Jeera (cumin seed) Kashaya

  • Cumin Seeds – 2 Tablespoons
  • Butter – ½ Teaspoon
  • Water – 2 Glasses (400ml)
  • Salt – to taste


  • Pre-heat the pan and put 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds.
  • When it starts to splutter, add water and the remaining cumin seeds to the pan and boil till the water content is reduced to half.
  • Strain it and add butter and salt and consume it like a soup.

IJeera (Cumin) has several medicinal benefits including the ability to stimulate lactation (mother’s milk) and reduce pregnancy related nausea.The best time to consume this drink is first thing in the morning or after dinner in the night. Usually consumed during the pre natal period (before delivery), it can be had even after delivery as it aids lactation.
