Ectopic Pregnancy
This happens when the fallopian tube, due to various reasons, is narrow and the fertilized egg, instead of attaching itself to the uterus, attaches itself within the fallopian tube. This is known as a 'tubal pregnancy' or 'Ectopic pregnancy'. This is generally caused by infections like Pelvic Inflammatory Disease or Chlamydia. Women who have other disorders with regard to the reproductive system are also at high risk of having an Ectopic pregnancy. The symptoms are heavy bleeding, pelvic pain and dizziness. The only method of treatment for this condition are Mehotrexate or emergency surgery.

RH Negative Disease
Group B Streptococcus
Pregnant women carrying bacteria can be very harmful to their unborn babies. Bacteria effected mothers can unknowingly transmit Group B Strep or Group B Streptococcus to their children at childbirth. A newborn child could die of this disease and if the baby did survive, he or she could be left mentally retarded, speech or hearing impaired, or even have vision problems. This disease can be found out through tests before the baby is born and can be treated before and after childbirth.Pre-term Labor
This is when the mother's body is trying to deliver the baby much before the baby is due. If the mother's body tries to deliver the child before the 37 weeks of pregnancy are up, it is considered Pre-term Labor. The main symptoms of pre-term labor are cramping in the abdomen and slight backache. As the contractions grow longer and stronger, the risk of delivering the baby too early also grows. In these situations, bed rest and good medication may help the pregnancy to wait out its full term.Gestational Diabetes
Gestational Diabetes develops only during pregnancy when the woman's body isn't able to produce enough insulin to break down sugar. If this condition isn't treated, you may be causing problems for your baby. This diabetes develops mostly in the second trimester and cannot be managed by pills. Diet or insulin may be the way to manage it. Regular exercise and blood tests are recommended to monitor your sugar levels if you have gestational diabetes.Low Birth Weight
Low birth weight usually occurs because of poor nutrition or consumption of substances like cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. It could also be the effect of an STD or other contagious diseases or just the effect of poor prenatal care. When a baby is born pre-maturely, he or she has to be kept in hospital for up to four months. Pre-maturely babies run a high risk of contriving respiratory infections, blindness, heart infections, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.| Overall Rating |
