When it's too early to test for pregnancy, keeping track of those subtle early symptoms could help you find out if you have conceived.

The earliest signs of pregnancy are different for each woman. Some sail through the nine months without any symptoms, while others experience bouts of nausea, fatigue and several aches and pains. Here are the most common early symptoms of pregnancy:

Early SymptomsImplantation Bleeding
At around 6 to 12 days after conception, you may experience a slight staining in pink or brown colour, with slight cramping. It is caused by the fertilized egg, as it burrows into the endometrial lining of the uterus. You may also experience some spotting around the time you expect your period.

Frequent Urination
Once the embryo implants and starts producing the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), you may find yourself having to go to the bathroom often.

Fatigue
Feeling tired and exhausted all the time? High levels of the hormone progesterone can make you feel as if you've run a marathon. Fatigue is typical of early pregnancy, though it is not a surefire symptom on its own.

Darkened Areola
If the skin around your nipple has darkened, you may have successfully conceived. Sometimes, this could also signal a hormonal imbalance unrelated to pregnancy or be a leftover effect from a previous pregnancy.

Altered Sense of Taste
A sudden change in the sense of taste could be a sign of pregnancy. Some women have a metallic taste in their mouth, while others may find that they cannot stand the taste of coffee, tea or a food they usually like.

Tender, Swollen Breasts
If you're pregnant, your breasts may become increasingly tender to touch, similar to the way they feel before your period, or in fact more. Once your body grows accustomed to the hormone surge, the pain will subside.

Food cravings
Food cravings too may sometimes be a sign of pregnancy. Though not a sure symptom (may be a sign that your body is low on a particular nutrient), but if cravings are accompanied by some of the other symptoms on this list, it could be pregnancy.

Morning Sickness
Morning sickness usually doesn't strike until a few weeks after conception (a few lucky do escape it altogether.) For others, it may happen even as early as a couple of days following conception, making them feel nauseated and queasy. And contrary to myth, pregnancy-related nausea can be a problem morning, noon, or night - not just in the morning.

Missed Period
If your periods are usually regular, and is late this time, it's worth trying a pregnancy test. A missed period is the surest sign of pregnancy in a woman of childbearing age.

Positive Home Pregnancy Test
If you've taken a home pregnancy test even as early as on the first day of a missed period and it's positive, you're most likely to be in the family way. Make an appointment with your doctor to confirm the good news. Congratulations!
